Black Masculinity in Hip Hop Discussion

  • GAMBA Forest 231 Norman Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11222 United States (map)

We would like to host a panel on black masculinity in Hip Hop. It'll start off as a panel and then switch to a group discussion. We'll be sharing experiences and addressing these questions:

- What are some of the social norms and what are the real implications?

- What are some people's experiences as a result of some of these norms?

- What are some ways that we've seen people address harmful norms in a way that inspires people and in a way that points toward a different paradigm?

- How do these challenges relate to other social and political movements like the Black Power and the Black Lives Matter movement?

We are looking to explore all of these questions and ideas with a multi-gendered panel of Hip Hop artists, writers, and people who play other roles in our collective community.

We'll be feature a silent auction of independent visual art by local and independant artists. Interested buyers will be able to make an offer to artists based on their budget. Don't be shy.

Live performances.
